How a Bread Making Machine Affects Your Electricity Bill
For some time now, I have been on the market looking around for the best automatic bread maker and thus far, in addition to some other criteria, I had to decide whether the bread maker is energy efficient enough to buy. Trust me, am trying to save money by making my own bread from home with an automatic bread maker, which means am not about to buy a bread maker that will add to my electricity bill. Do you know what I mean?
So as I moved on in my search for the “ultimate” bread maker. I realize that as far as being energy efficient was concerned, I had to look for one thing. It is
- Number of watts
So first and foremost, the amount of watts or the rate of power consumption; now am not a mathematical type of person so I will definitely not be getting in to the formulas of how these genius scientist calculate the amount of watts or power consumption but to put things into perspective, A typical household incandescent light bulb has a power rating of 25 to 100 watt. So I searched through the most popular automatic bread making machine on the market and I narrowed it down to these three Bread machines.
- Panasonic SD-YD250 – 550 watts
- Panasonic SD-RD250 – 550 watts
- Zojirushi BB-CEC20 Home bakery Supreme – 700 watts
While the Zojirushi was a great contender, its huge size means more watts, making it more likely to suck more electricity which might be great as regards to making bread but bad for your wallet. The battle is now between the Panasonics, the SD-YD250 and the SD-RD250, two members of the same family and I’ll be honest when I say that these are two tough choices. But after factoring in the price, I realized that the Panasonic SD-YD250 will be the more favorable choice. Don’t get me wrong, you can’t go wrong with any of these 3 bread making machines. It will all depend on what your individual needs are and what features you are looking for in a bread maker. But after considering the number of watts, the features and the price, my final #1 choice is the Panasonic SD-YD250. It has the right mix off everything including great features that can deliver fresh homemade bread without breaking the bank and my electricity bill.

How To Get The Most Out of Your Automatic Bread Maker
I was on YouTube the other day and I saw a video of a lady who had an automatic bread maker but she hasn’t gotten a chance to use this bread machine in long time. Sadly, that might be the case for a lot of people who perhaps have a bread machine but don’t get around to using it as much. So the question is how does a person get the most out of a bread maker?
- Get a recipe book
- Have Friends and Family over
- Be Experimental
Get A Recipe Book
I don’t know if you remember this but a little while back, I wrote a review of the Panasonic SD-YD250 bread maker and one thing that this bread making machine comes with was a recipe booklet and a lot of consumers commented that this recipe book really help them to get the most out of this bread maker.
Take for example the Panasonic SD-YD250, it recipe booklet includes recipes for 40 breads and doughs along with an insightful guide to baking basics and illustrated tips for making pastries. The point is that with a recipe book, you can get the most out of your bread making machine because you are not just stuck with breads all the time but can also bake other pastry items like cake, delicious.
Invite Your Friends and Family to Come Over
Let’s face it, if you have a big gathering of family members and friends, you will have no choice but to use your bread maker machine, because you will need bread for sandwiches and you might have to bake pastries after lunch too. When you have a family get together, this pretty much forces you to use your bread maker which helps you to get the most use out of it.
Be Experimental and Get Creative
Get the most out of your bread maker buy getting creative with what and how you bake. Try baking bread with different load sizes. I count the Panasonic sd-yd250 as one of my best bread maker because it comes with a yeast dispenser. What that actually means is that you can add raisin to what you are baking and it becomes a raisin dispenser. Add dry fruits and it becomes a fruit dispenser, the possibilities are endless. Besides, what can beat a healthy homemade wheat bread? By the way, if you ever get your hands on a Panasonic Bread Maker, try not to show off because your neighbors will be jealous.
